• Pioneering Integration: Geely Auto joins European OEMs, road authorities, and tech providers to share real-time Safety-Related Traffic Information (SRTI).

  • Euro NCAP & EU Directive Alignment: Directly supports the European Commission’s ITS Directive (2010/40/EU) and Euro NCAP’s connected safety roadmap.

  • Enhanced ADAS Rollout: Accelerates the safe, compliant deployment of Geely’s Advanced Driver Assistance Systems across European markets.

Amsterdam, Netherlands, 14 Aug, 2026 – Geely Auto has officially joined the European Data for Road Safety (DFRS) initiative, becoming the first Chinese carmaker to participate in the continent-wide cooperative safety ecosystem.

The partnership enables Geely vehicles to exchange real-time, anonymized Safety-Related Traffic Information (SRTI) with European road infrastructure, emergency services, and other connected vehicles. By contributing high-quality sensor data—such as sudden weather hazards, slippery road conditions, or breakdown alerts—Geely aims to enhance collective situational awareness and significantly reduce traffic accidents across Europe.

Driving Europe’s Connected Safety Architecture

The DFRS ecosystem serves as a key operational vehicle for the European Commission’s Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Directive (2010/40/EU). Working alongside Euro NCAP, the initiative encourages carmakers to integrate V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) data-sharing into their vehicle architectures as part of the roadmap toward safer, higher-performing driver-assistance systems.

By joining the DFRS, Geely reinforces its commitment to European data compliance (including GDPR) while laying the technical groundwork for the seamless rollout of its Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in European territories.

"Safety is a core value for Geely and a shared responsibility across the entire mobility ecosystem," said Li Bo, Director of the Intelligent Driving Centre at Geely Automobile Research Institute. "While we continuously advance active and passive safety capabilities in our vehicles, sharing real-time traffic hazards via the DFRS framework adds a vital layer of collective protection for all road users."

From Manufacturer to European Mobility Partner

Beyond vehicle design, Geely actively supports cross-brand, cross-border safety standards. Joining DFRS represents a major milestone in Sino-European data cooperation—shifting connected mobility from brand-isolated tech to an open, life-saving infrastructure.

For Geely, joining the DFRS not only underscores its firm strategic commitment to long-term expansion in Europe, but also allows the company to actively participate in shaping future regional safety standards. Furthermore, this cooperative platform facilitates deeper industry exchanges, giving Geely clearer insights into technological developments across European OEMs.

Geely will continue to collaborate with European industry partners, public authorities, and regulatory bodies to expand data-driven safety features and support the rollout of next-generation intelligent vehicles across the continent.
